Gender-based violence and racism (Goiânia and Rio Grande do Norte)

Vital Strategies analyzed data from the municipality of Goiânia and the state of Rio Grande do Norte to identify the magnitude of inequality in the impact of violence among black and brown women, compared to white women. The study mapped the risk of a black woman having a record of reporting physical or sexual violence in contrast with the same risk among white women.

 

The study uses data from 2015 to 2020 and has identified that the risk of dying of external causes is 2.7 times higher among black women when compared to white women.
